In Erina’s own words…
Art is a wonderfully amorphous being that is not confined to any one meaning. It acts as a mirror of sorts. It reflects how I am feeling, what I want to feel; goals, dreams, fears, you really can name it and it can be that. Art battles conformity and judgment, while it also embodies both. It is a weapon for good and bad, simply through the ability of art to evoke emotions. Art to me is my greatest enjoyment, and also what causes me to be most frustrated; it shows me my achievements and failures.
Collaboration means both moving past differences and creating something unattainable alone. It’s about people; learning, listening, and growing. People are my passion, in the least weird way possible. That is why the majority of my art is of people. Collaboration brings two passions together: people and art.
Activism is the only way to go in an unjust society… and we live in an unjust society. Activism is the true freedom of expression, and the ultimate form of collaboration: coming together to improve society and ways of life. Especially right now, it is essential. A combination of all three means the most to me, and I’m not alone. That’s the beauty of all three topics: it is a way for an emotive connection to be formed with people from all walks of life.
