Soldier (be)coming home(less)
Acrylic paint + collage on canvas
I created this piece in response to research I had done on veteran homelessness, and wanted to show the progression of a young man going off to war and the experience of far too many veterans of coming back to become homeless. Thousands of veterans come back with PTSD or some sort of physical disability, and a lack of support from the government allows for almost 40,000 veterans to be homeless in the US today. I don’t condone violence or war, but I support those who are victims of it. We owe it to them to speak up.
