In Ella’s own words…

Art is a way in which people can create and communicate outside of the capitalist regime that controls our lives. Capitalism operates through separating workers from their means of production which consequently isolates them from the fruits of their labor. It is enforced by cultural ideals that value money and individualism over empathy and community. By taking art out of capitalist society and beginning to make art solely for the experience, we are able to take back both the means and the fruit of our labor. We are able to acknowledge the true value of art and creativity by giving art value and worth aside from monetary value and therefore disengaging it from capitalist society.
